Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center has been designated as a Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). This designation means that we have met the independent and rigorous requirements established by the ASMBS. The ASMBS Center of Excellence designation recognizes surgical programs with a demonstrated track record of favorable patient outcomes in bariatric surgery. While complications are possible in any surgery, the rate of complications from surgery performed at an ASMBS Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence is extremely low – less than 1 percent.
